Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain that Dr. Commons can be used to cover stains or mask flaws such as cracked, broken, or misshapen teeth.  Porcelain veneers are sometimes referred to as “instant orthodontics” because they can also be applied to straighten the appearance of a crooked smile.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is perhaps the most commonly sought cosmetic dentistry procedure at Larrance Commons, DDS & Gregory Rice, DDS. Even the most beautiful smile can appear unhealthy or dull when teeth are stained or yellowed. Our office offers at-home whitening treatment.  This allows you to control just how white you wish your teeth to be.  It also allows for easy touch-ups, whenever you see fit!

Gum Recontouring

When a person’s gums extend too far onto the tooth surface, he or she is said to have a “gummy” smile.  In just one painless office visit, Dr. Rice can use a diode laser to gently sculpt the gum line into a more pleasing proportion, making teeth appear larger and the smile more brilliant.

Dental Crowns

When a tooth has been damaged by a cavity, Dr. Commons & Rice will most likely perform a root canal to remove the infected tooth pulp.  To restore functionality and appearance, and to seal the tooth from further damage, a dental crown will then be placed over the entire tooth surface.

Dental Bridges

If a patient is missing one or more teeth but is not necessarily a good candidate for dentures or dental implants, he or she may be fitted with a dental bridge.  A bridge is an artificial tooth that is held in place by a dental crown on either side of the gap created by the missing tooth.  A bridge is an affordable and attainable treatment option for many patients choosing to take a less aggressive approach to their dental needs.

Dentures

At Larrance Commons, DDS & Gregory Rice, DDS, we offer both full and partial dentures to our patients. Unlike dental bridges or dental implants, dentures are removable replacement teeth, when your entire arch is without teeth present.  Dr. Commons & Rice use the most modern materials and methods to create our patients’ dentures, so they can always be assured of a comfortable fit and the most realistic appearance.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically inserted into a patient’s jawbone to support permanent replacement teeth.  Unlike dentures, dental implants never need to be removed for cleaning, and they allow for more comfortable eating and speaking.  For those patients that are candidates, this is the most optimum dental treatment you can receive.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Traditional metal fillings are can often create a black appearance, can be harmful to our patient’s health. For this reason, at Larrance Commons, DDS & Gregory Rice, DDS we use only composite, or tooth-colored fillings. White fillings applied by Dr. Commons are less likely to cause tooth breakage like with metal fillings. White fillings are also virtually undetectable which makes your smile healthy and beautiful at the same time.

Smile Makeover or Smile Design

Many of Dr. Commons’s patients combine a number of cosmetic dentistry procedures to achieve the ultimate in smile design. For example, a patient may choose to eliminate the “gummy” appearance of his or her smile with gum recontouring, and then enhance the results with a tooth whitening session.  To learn more about the smile makeover or smile design opportunities available to our patients, we encourage you to make an appointment  to consult with a member of the Larrance Commons, DDS & Gregory Rice, DDS team at our Shoreline office.
